I received the set yesterday and of course immediately had to play with it. I got a piece of old glass, scored it..nothing. I tried again a bit harder and it made a scratch. Put object under line, pushed on sides and it worked. Then, I got an old piece of tile and scored it. It seemed not a mark on the tile. I tapped the tile on the side of my counter and the tile snapped where I scored it. One needs practice,but this product works.

Hit or Miss cuts... Anonymous , NC Rating 2/8/2009
I tried this on several extra pieces of tile before using them on the ones for our bathroom project. I followed the directions to the letter and it was hit or miss on whether it would work. If it was a cut right down the middle (mind you getting a straight line is tough enough) it would tend to work 2 out of 5 times. But if I had to do a smaller strip on one side, it just would not create an even cut. Forget the fancy cuts entirely.

This is the biggest piece of junk I have bought from HSN TV! I was doing a small job and ordered my tiles from Mexico.4x4. This tile cutter is nooooo good never cut any of the tiles just crack them in pieces I ruin three of my beautiful tiles.I ordered this tool before my tiles came and lost out on the 30 days return. I am very unset with HSN for selling such junk. I had three people try and cut the tiles and not once did it do what it should have, so it wasn't me.

I figured after reading the reviews I'd have to send mine back, but I gave it a try and it worked just as shown on the program. I scored the line, put the thick stick right under the score line in the middle of the tile, pushed with my palms on the outer corners of the tile and it came apart as promised. I am very happy with it and cant wait to get started tiling my bathroom floor. Perhaps bad reviewers didnt follow exact instructions. Thanks for the great, economical way to cut tile!

There is no way that the item shipped to customers is the same as what is presented on air. A person would have to be 400lb to apply enough pressure to score a tile to cut it with what is received. I'm highly disappointed in this item and HSN for selling it. IT DOES NOT WORK THE SAME AS WHAT IS AIRED ON HSN.
